On a beautiful ridge south-east of the township of Gorkha lies the holy temple of Manakamana, the holy goddess of aspirations. This temple is thought to be one of the manifestations of the Hindu goddesses Bhagwati. People faith the devi fulfills all aspirations and wishes of her devotees, thus call it wish fulfilling deity. The devi in fact rewards her devotes on reaching the shrine in both spiritual and physical exhilaration.The temple area owes a quite a small bazaar with good views, mid climate and plenty of interesting walks down deep valleys and terraced fields. It is now bustling bazaar that has grown rapidly. Temple is easily accessible in about 10 minutes by cable car. The cable car station lies in Kurintar which is 105km west of Kathmandu. Manakamana is a four hour walk from Abukhaireni on Kathmandu-Pokhara highway.Manakamana is facilitated with a number of hotels and lodges from average to luxurious.
How to get there?
1. 10 minutes Cable car ride from Kurintar
4 hour drive from Kathmandu to reach Cable Car Kurantar. During the 10 minutes ride of Cable Car you can overlook the Trisuli River in the beginning followed by the Village, experience of crossing Hills and spectacular view of orange gardens on the way to reach at the top followed by 10 minutes’ walk to reach the temple.
2. Hike from Anboo khairani which takes around 3 hrs.
